The now free Microsoft Teams has full data residency in Canada to help customers in regulated organizations like education, banking, public sector, and healthcare, onboard to Teams and Office 365.
If it’s a question of which chat-based hub is excelling within the corporate space, the title would undoubtedly fall under Microsoft Teams. Free-to-use and integrated with Microsoft’s ecosystem of applications – Microsoft Teams is quickly becoming the most adopted digital work platform for organizations looking to improve collaboration and productivity.
Can Public Sector Organization Use Microsoft Teams?
As of August 10, 2018, Microsoft Teams has announced complete data residency for Canadian organizations. What was once reserved for private-sector organizations is now open under secured use for highly regulated organizations like education, banking, public sector, government, and healthcare to implement alongside their Microsoft environment. Microsoft Teams joins the full list of Microsoft products that already have full data residency in Canada including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Skype for business Online, Project Online and others.
Now, organizations have full transparency of where their data is stored and can rest assured knowing that associated media on team channels, files, images, and media are stored at rest between the two Canadian datacenters located in Quebec City and Toronto – something Slack cannot promise.
