Waypoint Insurance, one of British Columbia’s largest insurance brokerage company, wanted to migrate from outdated and costly IT infrastructure to Microsoft Azure Cloud for IT optimization and simplification.
Waypoint Insurances’ growth strategy has been through the acquisition of other companies to expand its portfolio and reach, and provide exceptional products and services to a broader audience. As the company inherited the legacy infrastructure of the acquired companies, the old IT team faced numerous difficulties such as redundant and outdated technology which often resulted in delayed projects and increased cost of IT services. Waypoint needed a solution to optimize its IT infrastructure while simplifying its business.
Waypoint partnered with Softlanding who analyzed their legacy infrastructure and provided a strategic action plan for a simplified IT infrastructure. Softlanding worked closely with the Waypoint management team to create a high-level roadmap and move their outdated, costly and redundant on-premise IT infrastructure to cloud-based Microsoft Azure.
Improved agility
By deploying Sotlanding’s Microsoft Azure, Waypoint’s IT agility has dramatically increased resulting in simplified IT infrastructure, faster development cycles and improved business processes.
Saved $25K/year by eliminating the need for private data center
The old segregated IT system needed separate login access and different hosting systems, but now the company has consolidated access resulting in reducing the cost of inefficient resources.
Hands-off approach to IT
Waypoint can now enjoy the benefits of an effective IT methodology, a detailed action plan, and a simplified cloud-based IT infrastructure making its business model of acquiring companies a smoother transition and allowing their staff to work from anywhere, anytime.
"It was a big decision for our organization to move to an external vendor to help us with our IT needs. Despite our initial angst, we are really pleased with the outcome. This relationship allows an organization of our size to have access to industry-leading expertise that we could never acquire on our own. Softlanding has affordably changed how we do business, they have secured our infrastructure in the cloud, and they offer great service to our staff. On top of it, they are a great group of people to work with. Can’t say enough good things about them!"
