Strategic IT to Support Organizational Change

The BC First Nations Health Authority finds a strategic partner for a major transition, plus continued IT support for successful delivery of essential services.

  • In October 2013, the FNHA assumed the programs, services and responsibilities previously handled by Health Canada's First Nations Inuit Health Branch – Pacific Region
  • FNHA's vision is to transform the health and well-being of BC's First Nations and Aboriginal people by dramatically changing healthcare for the better

Challenge

  • The transition from Health Canada's First Nations Inuit Health Branch ­­­– Pacific Region to the FNHA represented a huge undertaking that would require the transfer of a large amount of information and the establishment of new IT infrastructure

  • FNHA did not have enough IT staff to accommodate such a large transition on such an aggressive timeline, so they required an experienced, strategic IT partner to lead the transition and ensure the organization's success  

  • Looking for a consolidation of multiple sites, a streamlined online help desk and a better system for delivering online services
