Using Data and AI to Enhance Learning Outcomes for CECCE Students with Diverse Needs.

The Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE) is a leader in providing innovative and inclusive education for its students. To fulfill its vision of excellence and caring in its schools, CECCE was looking to leverage data more strategically to detect and support students with special needs.

DÉFIS

The Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE) is a large network of French-language schools in Canada that aims to inspire and empower its students. However, CECCE struggled to identify and support students who were at risk of academic or personal difficulties, as the traditional methods of monitoring student progress were insufficient and delayed. CECCE needed a proactive and holistic approach to help these students as early as possible.

SOLUTION

CECCE learned about the Open Education Analytics (OEA) program, an open-source initiative from Microsoft that helps education institutions harness the power of data and AI to improve learning outcomes. CECCE decided to join the OEA community and partner with Microsoft and Softlanding to implement OEA in their school system.

CECCE collaborated with Softlanding to create a new data platform in only four months. The platform used AI and Power BI to analyze student data and flag those who needed extra support. It also improved data security, quality, and management, and gave each school a dashboard to monitor their data. CECCE began a journey towards data literacy, innovation, and maturity.
